Lago Negro (“Black Lake”) is one of the most photographed places in Gramado and features in almost every first-time itinerary. It is a relaxed outdoor outing: the appeal is walking around the lake, stopping for photos and enjoying the scenery.
How to fit it into your itinerary
- Time: allow 1 to 2 hours if you want to walk calmly.
- Best time: early morning or late afternoon is usually nicer for photos; on public holidays and in high season it gets busier.
- Combine with: downtown (Rua Coberta and Avenida Borges de Medeiros) and Lago Joaquina Rita Bier for a day of free outings.
Who it suits
It works well for couples, families with children and anyone planning a budget itinerary. Being outdoors, it is not the best choice on a day of heavy rain — see alternatives in Gramado on a rainy day.
Before you go
Paid services on site, such as pedal-boat hire, have their own prices and hours. Check on the spot or on the city’s official channels.
Practical tips
- Bring a jacket even in summer: by the water and the forest the temperature drops quickly in the late afternoon.
- Without a car you can walk from downtown; wear comfortable shoes.
