Gramado is a small mountain town in the Serra Gaúcha region of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil’s southernmost state. It is one of the most visited destinations in the country, known for its European-influenced architecture, food, cold winters and its huge Christmas festival, Natal Luz.
Planning is easier when you decide things in this order.
1. Pick your season
Winter (June–August) brings cold weather and high demand; from late October to mid-January the town hosts Natal Luz. See the best time to visit and the events calendar, which only shows officially confirmed dates.
2. Decide how many days
Most visitors stay 4 to 5 days, according to the 2025 official survey. Our 4-day itinerary is a good starting point.
