Fondue in Gramado: how it works and how to choose
Fondue is the food experience most associated with cold nights in Gramado. Understand the format before choosing a restaurant.
Updated on October 1, 2026 adapted from the Portuguese original
Fondue is almost synonymous with a cold night in Gramado. Many restaurants serve it as a set sequence (sequência), and understanding the format avoids surprises on the bill.
How it usually works
The most common sequence has three stages: cheese, meat (usually cooked on a hot stone or in oil) and chocolate with fruit. Each restaurant decides what is included, whether there are refills and what is charged separately.
What to ask before ordering
- Is the price per person? Do children pay a different rate?
- Are drinks, extra desserts and the service charge included?
- Is there a vegetarian option or one for dietary restrictions?
When to book
In winter, on public holidays and during the Natal Luz season, fondue restaurants are full in the evening. Book ahead or go at the start of dinner service.
Budget tip
Fondue is a rich, heavy meal: consider a light lunch the same day. See the impact on your budget in the cost calculator.
